All major forms of experiential therapy share 4 core elements. They all 1) aim to resolve the issue at its root 2) use mindfulness for self exploration 3) foster a sense of safety in the work 4) use therapeutic focus. This video explores why each of these elements is essential, from a scientific perspective, if we want to unlock memory reconsolidation in deeper layers of the brain, thereby changing emotional imprints held in implicit memory. While each experiential therapy integrates these elements in their own unique way, they fact that they are present is what allows experiential work to move so deeply, and create change so quickly, through galvanizing memory reconsolidation.
