This time we visited Mobara village in Shiga Prefecture.
The Mobara village produced particularly high-quality burdocks, and was already known as a burdock-growing area in the Edo period (1603-1868).
However, as in other villages, the population of Mobara gradually decreased with the high economic growth after World War II, and finally there was not a single burdock grower left.
For a long time, burdocks produced in Taga were regarded as a phantom, but in recent years, an effort to revive the burdocks of the past has begun in Mobara.
The name of the project is "Mobara Project.
Currently, energetic activities are being carried out with the support of many volunteers.
