In this video I show you how to easily make Okonomiyaki, the popular Japanese pancake, at home. Okonomiyaki is a hearty dish from Japan that is often referred to as "Japanese pizza". It consists mainly of finely chopped white cabbage, carrots and spring onions embedded in a delicious dough.
This recipe is not only delicious, but also versatile. You can add other ingredients such as mushrooms, tofu or seafood, depending on your taste. Try it out and bring a piece of Japanese cuisine into your home!

Ingredients for 2-3 people (approx. 4 small Okonomiyaki)
For the dough:
• 200 g (approx. 7 oz) white cabbage, finely chopped
• 1 Carrot, grated (approx. ½ cup)
• 2 spring onions, cut into thin rings
• 120 g (1 cup) flour (e.g. wheat or spelt flour)
• 2 tbsp (approx. 15 g) cornstarch
• ½ tsp (approx. 2 g) baking powder
• ½ tsp (approx. 3 g) salt
• 1 tsp (approx. 5 ml) soy sauce
• 150 ml (⅔ cup) water or unsweetened plant milk
For the sauce:
• 3 tbsp ketchup
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave syrup
• 1 tsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
Toppings:
• 2 tbsp vegan mayonnaise (optional, for the typical okonomiyaki pattern)
• 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
• 1 tsp nori seaweed, finely chopped
• Fresh Spring onions
