The P-1 is unprecedented in the world in that (1) the airframe, (2) the engine, and (3) the onboard systems were all specially designed and developed for the ideal patrol aircraft suitable for the missions required by the JMSDF.
This video shows the P-1 patrol plane's "3) Onboard Systems" section.
After giving an overview of anti-submarine warfare, I will explain the systems installed on the P-1 to search and detect submarines, including radar, EO/IR, MAD, and acoustic systems.
The P-8 Poseidon is not equipped with a MAD and works with unmanned aircraft, but it can only perform offshore search missions, and unmanned aircraft capable of ASW have not yet been developed.
I think that the P-1 is best suited to search for submarines in the waters around Japan by itself, and if unmanned aircraft are needed in the future, I hope that the P-1 will be updated with the ability to work together and be used for a long time.
