We picked up the four queries about “anger” from early Buddhism Q&A of Albomulle Sumanasara Thero September 3rd, 2020 @ Gothami vihara

Q. “Anger is a worldly desire, and it’s very poisonous. Anger is a worldly desire, and it’s very poisonous. However, it’s also the fact that it’s difficult to throw away the anger which rises when treated so unreasonably. It depends on the degree, but for example, the anger when my child is treated unjustly. How can I deal with the anger when the child’s human rights are ignored by abuse or bullying or the life is neglected?”

Q. “I realized that the common condition of getting mad at others hardly is to see they being unaware of their ignorances toward other people’s minds. For example, a time when they act or speak without noticing their ignorances. Also, in most of the cases I get angry at myself, I especially get angry at my own ignorance. It’ll be appreciated if you give me some advice.”

Q. “I get mad at the people who have bad manners in trains. Especially if the person next to me crosses its legs in crowded trains, I’ll feel so disgusted because the shoe is likely to touch my clothes. But, I don’t want to leave the seat where I could finally sit because it’s a long way. I can’t erase the anger even though I observe it like “Anger...anger...” What should I do? Even if the person is told not to cross the legs, I think almost all of them won’t follow what they’re told. I’m not sure but when I actually told it, I was snapped back at that time.”

Q. “There’re cases when I get mad hardly at the unreasonable discriminations or insults against minority people. Up to now, I have been justifying them as righteous indignation, but how can I calm the anger in these cases?”

Q. “I realized that I scolded my dog with noticing my emotion of anger. The breeder taught me that I had to scold the dog in no time. So, I scold my dog in no time, but when I scold my dog, there’re the reason that “I don’t want him to bite people. “ and the anger that “Ouch, how dare you bit me.” I think doing things with anger means vicious deeds, but how should I think about it in such cases? Please give me some advice.”
