About Bhagyashree Hugar

Native to the generational music family – with the heritage of over three generations of musical excellence, Kumari Bhagyashree Hugar is a rare prodigy: one amongst the finest sitar players of the current youth!

Being naturally responsive to the atmosphere at home – of resplendent exposition of tabla artistry by her father: Pandit Shree Satlingappa Desai Kallur (a highly prominent tabla maestro and an A-TOP grade All India Radio artist), she has had a rhythmic start to her musical journey…She began learning tabla at a very tender age under Pandit Ji’s tutelage, and grew to excel with arduous efforts and practice. And with the openness of exploration that her family has encouraged – she including her siblings are highly proficient in
a variety of instruments, such as herself in flute, violin, mandolin, and classical vocals. Lately, she began picking up interest in sitar- for its appeal and completeness as a melodic instrument, and went ahead to pursue it under the guidance of Dr. Mallikarjun S Tarlagatti (retired principal of University College of Music and Fine Arts, Dharwad). Her relentless commitment and strive towards her passion has led her a new path with Sitar, where she now stands as one of the brightest stars amongst the youth performers!
