Lots of fun happening today! I hope you'll find inspiration for items you can spruce up around your home to make them more your style.
~ First off, a makeover of a 1970's footstool, built by my talented father-in-law. Love him to pieces! I've painted the base using Waverly Chalk Paint in the color Ivory, and I purchase this at Walmart. I'm also using a 2-1/2 inch angled Purdy brush, and a small brush from an artist set. If you find your paint thickening up, dip your bristles in some water. This helps thin the paint for smoother application.
I've recovered the cushion in fabric purchased from JoAnn's several years ago. I just love all the florals, birds, and colors of this lovely print!
~ Next, we are making stamped bags. I'm using the Iron Orchid Designs (IOD) stamp set "Crockery", and black ink. I'm using my smaller quilt square for easy alignment of the stamp, baby wipes to remove excess ink, and plain brown lunch sacks from Walmart. I saw someone post this craft on the Julie's Designs and Signs Group Page. If you know who posted this craft, please comment below. I couldn't find the original post to give them proper credit for this idea.
~ Moving on to the adorable Pumpkin and Acorn shaped fabric coasters. I found the outline images on Google. You'll need fabric, HeatNBond, craft felt, and an iron to complete this project. I used my sewing machine to stitch a 1/4 inch around each shape, and trimmed with pinking shears to complete the look.
~ Finally, I am making over the decor pieces that Mr. Shabby, and Cousin Billy Finch, Jr. picked up for me while thrifting. I used Book Pages left over from my Book Page Wreath Tutorial. Took my Cricut Paper Trimmer and cut them into 1/2 inch pieces, then used Mod Podge to adhere them to the Patriotic balls. I loved the transformation! I then embellished each ornament with various lace, Sola Wood Flowers, fringe, bells, greenery, ribbon, and beads. You can create your own using plain plastic ornaments and any embellishments you have on hand.
Be Blessed, and Happy Crafting!
