My second son made a table, so we had tea time under the shade of a tree right away. We went to a local wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) shop, which has many customers from far away. It is a shop owned by a classmate from kindergarten to junior high school, and when it comes to wagashi in this area, it's always "Yokan-ya Honpo".

Since it's a classmate's shop and it's local, let me introduce it to you.

"Yokan-ya Honpo"
282 Sanno, Toride City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan
Phone: 0297-85-8320
Closed on Wednesdays
Business hours: 8:00 - 19:00

When I went to the shop today, the owner, who is my classmate, was there, and we talked about various things. They make homemade sweet bean paste at this shop, and their wagashi made with their commitment to the bean paste has become quite popular. It has been featured on TV and in newspapers, and they have many customers from far away.

Now, their daughter has taken over the shop, and the whole family manages the shop together, so the atmosphere is warm. Among their wagashi, "Karintou Manju" is particularly popular and addictive.

We had a leisurely tea time in the shade of a tree in the best weather.

Despite the fact that the suginas and dokudamis are taking over the entire garden just around the corner. I'm thinking of at least asking them to remove the suginas next week.
