Bus Build in Japan - Episode 67. Test driving our bus build on a steep mountain. We have just finished converting our 2004 Nissan Civillian ex-police bus into an off-grid camper van in Japan. In this episode, we head to a nearby steep mountain and check if our DIY bus conversion can handle it!
After completing a small self build campervan conversion in Japan in early 2020 and then spending 18 months enjoying full-time Japanese camper van life, we always had the idea in the back of our minds that we’d like a tiny home in Japan which is a little more spacious and comfortable for full-time Japan van life. We absolutely love living in an off-grid camper van in Japan and are excited to continue this nomadic lifestyle and embrace full time bus living.
Van travel in Japan in our off grid camper van build has been an incredible way to overland Japan and get off the beaten path. We visited so many amazing places during our slow travel camper van road trip in Japan. Converting our own DIY camper van build in Japan has been one of the best decisions we have ever made and Japan camper van life is so easy due to the huge amount of Japanese roadside stations, free campsites and onsen throughout the country. We can’t recommend van life in Japan enough!

WHO AM I?
After spending 9 years travelling the world, I came back to my home country of Japan and converted an old delivery van into a DIY camper van with my Scottish girlfriend Ruth. We spent 18 months doing a van life in Japan road trip and visiting many incredible places off the beaten path in Japan. We are now tackling a new DIY van build and converting a 2004 Nissan Civillian bus into our dream bus build home.
