In this video I talk about the challenge of opening the heart in a world that often hardens us. The mind naturally seeks answers, but true transformation doesn’t come through intellectual understanding—it comes through the heart. Many people unconsciously protect their hearts with strategies of control, fear, and cynicism, but this only deepens suffering.
Opening the heart is not a transaction—it’s a total surrender, a gamble with vulnerability that can feel like a death of the self. Yet, the alternative—living with a walled-in heart—is a prison. True openness brings power, discernment, and sensitivity, which is not weakness but a deep, life-affirming strength. The heart must lead, not the mind. This path is one of totality, not selective opening. The invitation is to embrace love’s freedom, no matter the cost.
The poem I read:
Don’t let cynicism win
Open your heart
Even if it means surrendering control
Experience tightens us
It’s easy to retract
And think life’s cruelty
Is something we must harden against
But that only increases our suffering
And we descend into bitterness and closure
Don’t let cynicism win
Open your heart
Even if it means surrendering control
Let life break you open
Not break you down
We are not meant to live from a closed place
We are born to love’s freedom
And the cost is heartbreak.
