Fall in the North Cascades. There is nothing quite like it. The alpine is dotted with rugged peaks, remote glaciers, beautiful lakes, and of course, golden larches. On October 7th, I set out from the Scatter Lake Trailhead with the goal of summiting Abernathy Peak and swimming in Scatter Lake. I didn't look for any beta so I was pretty uncertain on what I'd find. Turns out, I stumbled across an incredibly beautiful larch lake, and a peak with some of the best views I've ever had of the North Cascades.
