Dearest Friends and Buddies, it is with much excitement and pleasure that I can now share with you friends finally: the showcase of this best hifi mall in the world :-D !!! I haven't been aware that the best has always been right under my nose, in Singapore! *This is the Adelphi Mall!!! It houses more than 40 storefronts (currently 46) and 5 vinyl record stores!*. 80-90% of the audio stores in Singapore set up home here in the Adelphi. The other 10-20% are littered around Singapore.
I started my audio hobby back when i was 19 years of age, in 1994. There is military conscription in Singapore for all Singapore males, and I remember when I was 19 to 21 yrs old, booking out of camp every weekend and visiting this Adelphi mall to ogle at all the hifi gear!! Even if I couldn't afford most of them, there are Free Smells! (Famous Amos?) ...and I love the smell of hifi!!
Humbly really, I wasn't aware that this is indeed the best audio-hifi mall in the world. Only until last year did my well-traveled friends from other countries told me and my fellow Singaporean friends this fact. I had always thought that the U.S., the U.K and Japan, where many audio brands originate from, would house the best comprehensive audio malls, but no, they told me. It would instead be Singapore's Adelphi Mall. Japan's AudioUnion in Ochanomizu, and Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara come closest, but objectively they still fall short in the array of brands and equipment offered. Yes the Adelphi Mall in Singapore is extremely comprehensive :-D !!!
The Adelphi Mall has been serving the audiophile community in Singapore for the past 30+ years, and it is within a 5-25minute drive from any residential homes in Singapore. For me, it is a 15minute drive :-D.
On Saturdays, the audiophiles in Singapore will often make their "pilgrimage"-like trip to this Adelphi mall :-D!!! We gather in the stores, make friends, or we would sip coffee at basement one where there are a number of drink stores and mini bistros.
