45699 Galatea
During 2016 she was entering into her 3rd full year in revenue earning service after returning to steam in mid 2013 after being restored from Barry Scrapyard condition between 2002 & 2013.

During 2016 she was the most seen loco within David Smith's collection on the mainline.

We start her review in mid February while she worked The Pendle Dalesman from Carnforth outward via Shap to Carlisle & return via the Cumbrian Coast.

Galatea on Day 4 of The Great Britain 9 from Grange Over Sands to Edinburgh in late April we see her at Carnforth with the empty stock ready to head off to Grange Over to collect her before we see her again at Carlisle the last station before entering Scotland.

Regular scenes at Crewe the town were she was built during her light engine moves between West Coast's 2 mainline depots Carnforth & Southall.

And finally for 45699 Galatea we see her being used during crew training between Carnforth & Hellifield.

46115 Scots Guardsman
2016 was used less than the other locos due to winter maintenance carried over into the early summer but The Scot returned with making up for lost time.

We start in Wales as this was history in the making as this was the 1st time ever 46115 and being the 1st member of his class to go over the Conway Valley branch to Blaenau Ffestiniog as we see 46115 attacking the 1 in 47 climb to Bleanau tunnel at Roman Bridge.

Later in the day we see the scot at Abergele on the return to Preston.

Next clips are the scot on home territory The West Coast Mainline working The Cumbrian Coast Expresses in late August and early September.

And finally for the hole review of West Coast Railways in 2016 46115 on the North Wales Coast Express between Crewe & Holyhead in late August & early September.

2016 was an up an down year for West Coast earlier in the year Prohibited from the ORR from running on the national network following safety concerns. But they returned in late March bringing with it memorable runs as seen in this program.

Big thanks goes to David Smith and everybody behind the scenes at West Coast Railways. Caz without them this video would not be possible.

This is also to say thank you without West Coast Harnetty Railways filming on the mainline would not be were it is today without them so once again Thank You West Coast Railways.
