Cherry log was left to rot in a creek bottom. Friend thought the tree had been taken down 2 or 3 years ago. The sap wood was spalted and very punky. Gave me some issues keeping my bowl gouge sharp. I used boiled linseed oil for the finish. I am quite happy with how the piece turned out. It has more figure and chatoyance than I was expecting.
I put text in the video saying there will be a future video on the other half of the log. I'm not sure when that will be. I am going to cut it to size and let it dry out for a while.
