Did you know that 50-year-old Boeing 737-200's still operate in rural Canada serving remote gravel airstrips. Indigenous villages and mining facilities rely on these jet workhorses to transport passengers and deliver goods to communities without road access.

Air Inuit is a Canadian airline that operates domestic passenger, charter, and cargo flights in Nunavik, southern Quebec, and up to Nunavut. They currently own 5 Boeing 737-200 Combi aircraft that are able to land at gravel airstrips. Dozens of communities in northern Canada are without outside road access, relying on aviation to deliver food, medicine, and goods.

For decades the 737-200 Combi has served Canada's territories thanks to its versatility and short-field performance. The aircraft was state-of-the-art in the late 1960s and they operated regularly scheduled passenger flights throughout the millennium. As the jets continue to age, more and more disappear to the scrap yard as the jet becomes pricier to upkeep. Nolinor Aviation and Air Inuit, both based in Quebec, are the last airlines in North America using the -200 for scheduled operations.
