Austrian Airlines has an incredible Business Class dining experience that really surprised me! The Boeing 767-300ER has operated for Austrian since 2004 and the midsize wide-body (211 passengers) is perfect on routes like Montreal-Vienna. As the national flag carrier of Austria, the German-owned airline serves 127 destinations from Vienna across the world. Lufthansa Group purchased the unprofitable airline from the Government of Austria and made it profitable! They're now one of Star Alliance's stronger carriers with a stable operation leading Europe in on-time performance with 88.66%.
Montreal to Vienna is an interesting route on paper, but Austrian has had great success with it since it's inauguration in 2019. Montreal is the largest French-speaking city in North America, and it's enjoyed great growth as a beautiful city for tourists to visit year-round.
Sadly the 767's time with Austrian is coming to an end on December 31, 2025. Due to low fuel efficiency and aging airframes it's time for the 787 Dreamliner to replace the old birds. Plus the Business Class seat is poorly designed compared to it's European & Asian counterparts.
