In this episode, join Kyle and I on several Oregon river adventures: kayaking Metolius River whitewater, fly-fishing headwaters of the Deschutes River, and chasing waterfalls along Tumalo Creek –all in beautiful, Central Oregon. Along the way we learn about Oregon’s river legacy and how that legacy can be multiplied with the Oregon River Democracy Act.

“The Oregon River Democracy Act is a historic opportunity to protect many of Oregon’s most treasured rivers. This proposed legislation would safeguard over 3,200 miles of waterways, from the big landscapes of Northeastern Oregon to the rugged Coast Range.” –Oregon Wild

To learn a bit more about the Oregon River Democracy Act, we check back in with Erik Fernadez from Oregon Wild, a nonprofit group protecting wild and scenic rivers and other special places throughout Oregon. Erik explains the importance of designating new rivers as ‘Wild and Scenic,’ and the overwhelming support for the Oregon River Democracy Act. The Act is championed by Senator Ron Wyden. 85% of Oregionians want to see more Wild and Scenic Rivers designations including 75% of Republican voters.

WHERE THE WILD ROAM seeks to educate and inform audiences about wildlife and wild places in a new way –with an adventurous, heartfelt, and hosted show that’s free to stream across social media.

Whether you like to hunt, hike, camp, flyfish, paddle, raft or kayak whitewater, mountain bike, backpack, bird watch, or simply enjoy the outdoors, we can all agree that we need to protect wild places and wildlife.

Throughout our first season, we will be highlighting wildlife wild places, and wildlife habitat including: Grasslands, wolves, Wild and Scenic rivers, the Sierra Nevada, palm deserts, Owyhee Canyonlands, and redwood forests.
