This week we are lettering Mexicano 14 using custom stencils made by Steve Strebel's daughter Norah. She makes these professionally at #Bark Out Loud. https://www.barkoutlouddecals.com/
The Connie locomotives are a Bachmann Spectrum consolidation from some year back.
Knowing we needed custom decals for Mexicno 14 we were looking for someone who could make dry transfer as I have never been able to hide wet slide decal edges. However dry transfer is fragile. And getting hard to find. However, Norah makes stickers that are ultra-thin, AND painting masks. Stencils. And we can paint the letters on!!!
Now I used this on our 1:24 scale rotary snowplow, it worked great, but that was both a learning experience and using black letters over gray. This time we are shooting white over black. So... we tested that. And worked great. For the very small letters, we used Norah's stick-on decals. Super thin and stick well!!!!
Our letters were huge, making the process easier, but on the rotary we were going smaller with success. SO we are planning to do this on our UTOCO tank car. Watch for that!!!
