More Norfolk Southern Trains Than CSX Trains On CSX Tracks. Norfolk Southern Intermodal & Mixed Freight Trains With A Look At Where The Abandoned Crossing Used To Be. CSX Freight Trains With A CSX Local Running Long Hood Forward. These Trains Are In Glendale, Ohio In The Town Known For Black Squirrels. Historic Lamps Near The Tracks.
You will see a lot of railfans in this video. This is a very popular place for railfans that is located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. This is an old Baltimore And Ohio Railroad line that uses directional running. Most of the trains are northbound and most southbound trains use the nearby Norfolk Southern line. On this day there were a lot more Norfolk Southern trains than I usually see. The first train can been seen dropping the signal. That is railroad jargon that means the light drops from green to red as the train passes it. You have to look really close to see it.
We also take a look around town at some of the squirrel statues and learn about a few of the famous residents. Some of the residents are associated with the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. It is really awesome to know that future Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson lived here during the Big Red Machine days in the 70s. I knew all the players names back then.
A CSX local passed by running southbound on Track Two. This train was interesting since the locomotive was running long hood forward and the engineer waved to the railfans.
A Norfolk Southern train stopped to wait for that local train to pass. I was near the spot were Albion Road used to cross the tracks. That crossing was removed a few years ago. See my videos of the town going to a No Train Horn Zone status. After the NS train stopped I walked close to a half mile to the front of the train and then watched the whole train pass at the Sharon Road railroad crossing.
Which train is your favourite? Have you ever eaten at the restaurant next to the crossing here in town? Can you name any other famous people who live in Glendale?
Don't miss the slide show that comes from the video near the end.
