This pakoda is also known as medu (soft) pakoda or madras pakora or madras pakoda. Old name of Chennai is Madras. Although there are many reasons and theories for the name Chennai, it is noteworthy that the name Chennai comes from Chennaipatnam. It fits perfectly and now you know why this pakoda is called pattanam pakoda or pattinam pakoda.
This pattanam pakoda is one of the easiest pakoda recipes. It is made with rice flour, chickpea flour, or besan or chickpea flour, as we say in Tamil with fried gram flour or chickpea flour.

Ingredients :-
வெண்ணெய்(butter) - 2 tbsp
சோடா உப்பு(cooking soda) -¼ tsp
கடலை மாவு(gram flour) - 2 cup(400g)
அரிசி மாவு(rice flour) - ¾ cup(150g)
உப்பு(salt)- 1 tsp
பெருங்காயத்தூள்(asafoetida powder)- ¼ tsp
பச்சை மிளகாய்(green chilli) -6Ns
பூண்டு(garlic) -1Ns ( 10 teeth)
இஞ்சி(Ginger)- 20g
சிறிய வெங்காயம்(small onion)-100g
மல்லி இலை(coriander leaves) - சிறிதளவு (a little) கருவேப்பிலை(curry leaves)- சிறிதளவு(a little)
