In this build series, I am working with Cliff Hall, a toolmaker from New Zealand. Cliff has invented a thread milling attachment for a knee mill that allows for cutting both internal and external threads of both metric and imperial pitches. It can be mounted on the rear edge of the XY table of a Bridgeport style mill and it is entirely manually operated. In this episode:
*Machining the nut carrier from high tensile steel.
*Machining the nut pivots from bronze bar stock
*Lapping the spindel leadscrew with a shop built aluminium lap
*Refinements to the ratio arm (sad face).
