Yusoku Ryori Mankamerou is a Michelin two-star Japanese restaurant in Nizhijin, Kyoto, that has carried on a special knife ceremony of the Ikama School and preserved over 300 years of traditions. The ceremony was established for the Emperor of Japan hundreds of years ago and involved carving a fish decoratively without touching the fish with hands. The special ceremony requires its own reservation and separate fee. You can have dinner here without the ceremony, but we really wanted to see it and reserved the ceremony a long time in advance and also reserved the Kaiseki dinner for afterwards. This restaurant has beautiful Japanese-style private rooms and the fantastic food is served in decorative plates and bowls. The staff were friendly, courteous, jovial and so informative (our host explained the cultural concepts behind each dish with an electronic English interpreter). Amazing experience. Filmed with Osmo pocket 3. Please enjoy!
